Workshop Series Schedule

  • In this introductory session, we’ll discuss the foundations of mindfulness practices and their role in social justice. We’ll reflect on the origins of contemplative practices, their development in the U.S., and their intersection with movement building. We’ll use the current civil rights movement as a case study for further discussion. Through analyzing various case studies of community care, we’ll unpack the history of self-care and community care, the importance of collective wellbeing, and discuss how to nurture community care in the spaces we find both belonging and dissonance.

One hour, virtual (Zoom) and recorded for those that cannot attend

  • Conflict is intrinsic to change. In this session, we’ll analyze how conflict occurs in conversations around race and equity, reflect on the Westernized response to conflict, and practice skills that can help us feel more resourced when conflict occurs. This lesson builds an understanding of historical and contemporary racial trauma and how it intersects with cultivating community. We’ll explore various strategies – narrative healing, coping strategies, resistance strategies, and embodied movement – and analyze how they can support those who are experiencing or have experienced racial trauma.

One hour, virtual (Zoom) and recorded for those that cannot attend

  • In this session, we’ll unpack the tension between intention and impact, the challenge of goal-setting in equity-based work, and learn from social justice leaders on staying aligned, focused and open to change. We’ll analyze various social change ecosystems to further understand our role in movement building. Through this, we’ll identify our strengths and reflect on how we stay best resourced for the work ahead.

  • I highly recommend participating in ARD workshops. My experience has been great in both I've attended so far and I have come away both times with tangible action items and tools to start implementing on my DEIB Working Team. Workshops are accessible and some great conversation happens among attendees as well--we can all learn from each other!

    ARD February Workshop Attendee

  • The workshop was energizing and engaging. Exactly the boost and expertise needed to re-engage with DEI work.
